About: Personal details

We need to know your name and date of birth to identify you for voting purposes. Providing your occupation can help to identify your details on the roll more quickly on election day.

Please use your full name as this helps us to distinguish between people with similar names.

If you only have one name, please enter it in the 'Surname' box.

We need to know if you are of Māori descent to determine if you are eligible to choose to enrol in a Māori electorate.

About: Tūhono

Tūhono is a service which allows Māori adults to be registered with their iwi and for iwi to establish and maintain reliable and up-to-date registers of their members.

If you choose to register your iwi affiliation by returning a Tūhono form, we will provide up-to-date contact information to the iwi and Māori organisations you nominate when you update your enrolment details. This only happen if Tūhono receives consent from you.

About: Address details

We need to know the address where you usually live so that we can determine where you qualify to vote.

If you haven't been living at your current address for a month or more, we'll ask you to provide a previous address as you will qualify to vote at the address where you most recently lived for one month or more.

If you are a student studying away from home you can enrol to vote at the address where you regard as your home.

Live Overseas?

If you live overseas, you will still be eligible to enrol in the electorate where you last lived for at least one month if:

  • you are a New Zealand citizen who has been in New Zealand within the past three years; or
  • you are a permanent resident of New Zealand who has been in New Zealand within the past 12 months.

If you wish to update your enrolment details online you must first opt-in by answering 'Yes' to this question and then provide your email address.

After we receive and process your enrolment form, we will write to you to provide information on how to link your RealMe login to your enrolment details.

If you don't already have a RealMe login (formerly known as "igovt logon") you will be able to create one as part of the registration process. You will be able to use the same RealMe login for accessing other online services.
